Tenerife en moto: rutas

By | 27 November, 2015 | 0 comments

There are many ways to discover Tenerife and its environment. If you liked the ideas of our ‘Adventurous Tenerife‘, this time we have a recommendation for lovers of two wheels… discover the island by motorbike!

As it is complicated to carry your own motorcycle to Tenerife, the best idea is to rent one in a local company (booking in advance). In fact, there is a lot of companies that offer the service of motorcycle tours with driver, with which you can enjoy the landscape in a different way with itineraries designed by expert bikers.

In any case, you should have a mid-displacement vehicle and be well equipped to cope with climatic contrasts of the island, even in summer.

Ruta 1: Costa Adeje – Teide – Santa Cruz de Tenerife

We recommend you to start with an obligatory visit to the ‘Cañadas del Teide’. From the Hotel Colon Guanahani (Av. Bruselas s/n) located in the center of Playa de Fañabé in Costa Adeje area, you can go north through the TF-1 road and the TF-82. We suggest you to turn off to Guía de Isora if you want to shorten the path from TF-38 to Chirche. This road is quite narrow but it is worth for the breathtaking volcanic landscape to get access to the Teide along the TF-21. Once there, the road gets more complicated, it is not very well preserved and you must be careful over the bumps. When you get closer to the Cañadas del Teide, the road will become rougher with enormous blocks of volcanic rocks on the sides, so you have to slow down. After stopping for a while to enjoy the perfect view of the Teide mountain, the descent is from the TF-24 road to Arafo (TF-523). In this stretch you really will enjoy such a great time because it is a road in very good conditions, with many ups and downs twists. Following the TF-245 and the TF-281 road, you will arrive to Güímar, where there is an access to the TF-1 that will take you directly to Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Ruta 2: Santa Cruz de Tenerife – La Orotava – Los Gigantes – Costa Adeje

Another interesting itinerary is visiting the island by the north. In this case, you will start from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to La Orotava. To do this, you will go by the highway with more inclination of Europe, San Cristóbal de La Laguna. Then you can make the descent of the Teide mountain along the TF-24, a road in very good condition although you can find some parts of vegetation… be careful! You will go from the TF-21 road to La Orotava, enjoying all the spectacular views of the Teide mountain across a diverse stretch. From La Orotava you can visit all the small villages in the north, included Icod de los Vinos and the must stop on the cliffs of Los Gigantes. Just before arriving to Los Gigantes, do not forget to take the road from Santiago del Teide to Masca to enjoy a really good driving. Finally, you just go down from the TF-82 and the TF-47 road to get back to our hotels.
