Visitando los museos de Tenerife

By | 15 January, 2016 | 0 comments

Are you a lover of cultural visits? If you are planning on coming to Tenerife, you’re in luck! The island has some unique museums with which discover the whole Canarian history, its biodiversity and its culture. From Adrián Hoteles we recommend you the most interesting museums.

Museum of Man and Nature

The Museum of Man and Nature (Museo de la Naturaleza y el Hombre – MNH) is located in the former Civil Hospital, an emblematic building for its neoclassical architecture. The interactive museum exhibitions are spread over two circuits, one about natural science and another one about archeology. Both will help you discover the origin and nature of the Canary Islands. Among the most intriguing exhibitions, there is the module on the operation of a volcano. In addition to the activities and collections, the museum also has a documentation center and library, a restaurant, a shop and some gardens.

Tenerife Space of Arts

Since 2008, the Tenerife Space of Arts (Tenerife Espacio de las Artes – TEA) has several exhibition halls, a huge library and the Center for Photography of Tenerife (Centro de Fotografía Isla de Tenerife). This cultural center has an arrangement designed for integrating inner and outer, so you can access it from all sides. You can enjoy all the exhibitions with great artistic background at the TEA, but also the guided tours, workshops and even a regular program of independent films.

Museum of History and Anthropology

The Museum of History and Anthropology (Museo de Historia y Antropología – MHA) is divided into three centers: Casa Lercaro, Casa de Carta and the Castillo de San Cristobal. The latter shows the defensive system of the island long time ago through the remains of the castle wall. The other two sites are focused on the history of Tenerife offering a broader vision. Casa Lercaro’s exhibitions emphasize the economic and cultural developments of the last century, and the Casa de Carta focus on crafting traditions (clothing, pottery, basketry popular…). Both have cultural and educational programming activities.

Museum of Science and Space

This is a space suitable for all audiences because of its pedagogical style is the Museum of Science and Space. (Museo de la Ciencia y el Cosmos – MCC). This museum not only exposes objects in showcases, but rather proposes ideas and experiences! Walking through its halls you can access to workshops and activities: managing a model of a telescope to make a cosmic safari, enjoying a maze of mirrors or testing your math skills. And do not miss the planetarium room!
