At ADRIAN Hoteles, we are renewing our commitment to protecting the biodiversity of the Canary Islands by participating, once again, in the “El Primer Viaje” (The First Journey) campaign, an initiative aimed at protecting young Cory’s shearwaters during their first flights towards the ocean.
During October and November, these birds leave their nests to embark on their first journey to the sea. However, artificial lighting in coastal areas can disorient them and cause them to fall to the ground, endangering their survival.
As part of our collaboration with this initiative, from 2nd to 15th November, we will reduce the brightness of our facilities, especially in outdoor areas, to minimise the impact of light pollution and help the shearwaters complete their first flight safely.
In addition, coinciding with the start of the campaign, we held a training session with the “El Primer Viaje” team, where our professionals learned more about this species, the risks it faces, and how to act to contribute to its protection.
At ADRIAN Hoteles, we continue to champion responsible tourism, involving our teams and guests in the conservation of the natural environment of the Canary Islands.
