Committed to the environment

Quality and environmental measures

Adrián Hoteles, true to its commitment to service excellence and to meeting the needs of its guests, is equally committed to protecting the environment in which it operates. In this regard, it directs its operations, products and services towards responsible management that contributes to preserving a clean, healthy and pollution-free environment, for the benefit of people’s well-being. Furthermore, Adrián Hoteles maintains a course of action aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), integrating criteria of sustainability, efficiency, respect for the environment and social commitment across all aspects of its day-to-day management.

What measures do we take to be more sustainable?

At our hotels, we are constantly working to improve energy efficiency and reduce our environmental impact, by embracing renewable energy, energy-efficient technology and responsible practices.

100% of the electricity we consume comes from renewable sources, and we have solar installations at Roca Nivaria GH and Colón Guanahaní.

Our buildings are designed to make the most of natural light and ventilation, with insulation systems that reduce the need for air conditioning. Furthermore, we reuse energy from the air conditioning systems to heat swimming pools and domestic hot water.

We have implemented smart energy management systems, LED lighting and consumption automation, as well as efficiency measures in guest rooms and the laundry, where we use ECO programmes.

We also train our team and involve guests in sustainable practices, such as reducing the frequency of washing bed linen and towels, whilst ensuring continuous improvement in our energy solutions.

At ADRIAN Hoteles, we are actively working to reduce the emissions generated by our operations, incorporating control, reduction and offsetting measures into our sustainability strategy.

Every year, we calculate our carbon footprint to assess the environmental impact of our operations and draw up action plans aimed at progressively reducing CO₂ emissions.

We promote more sustainable mobility by providing charging points for electric vehicles at our three properties and gradually introducing electric and hybrid vehicles for internal operations and maintenance. Furthermore, we encourage the use of public transport between locations, thereby helping to reduce emissions associated with travel.

We are also working on the continuous improvement of our facilities by gradually replacing refrigerant gases with alternatives that have a lower global warming potential, thereby reducing the environmental impact associated with air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Furthermore, we carry out environmental offsetting initiatives, such as local reforestation activities, which help to conserve the natural environment and absorb part of the emissions generated.

Continuous improvement, raising awareness among our team and incorporating more sustainable solutions are all part of our commitment to moving towards a tourism industry that is increasingly environmentally responsible.

At ADRIAN Hoteles, we strive to optimise water consumption and promote the responsible use of this resource through efficient technology, best operational practices and the involvement of our staff and guests. The water used in our hotels comes from our own reverse osmosis desalination plant, ensuring a sustainable and self-sufficient supply.

We implement water-saving measures across all our facilities, such as dual-flush cisterns, taps and showers with flow regulators, as well as automatic night-time irrigation systems and the use of native plants suited to the local climate to minimise water consumption in gardens.

We also encourage environmental awareness among guests and staff, promoting initiatives such as reducing the frequency of washing sheets and towels, as well as the responsible use of water throughout the hotel’s operations.

We have consumption monitoring and control systems in areas such as guest rooms, laundry, catering, swimming pools and communal areas, which enable us to identify opportunities for improvement and continuously optimise the use of this resource.

Furthermore, we carry out constant preventive maintenance on plumbing systems and implement efficiency measures in the laundry and swimming pools to reduce consumption, prevent unnecessary wastage and ensure a more sustainable quality of service.

Sustainability - Adrian Hoteles

At ADRIAN Hoteles, we promote a model of responsible consumption based on waste reduction, the optimisation of resources and the selection of more sustainable products and suppliers, whilst always maintaining high standards of quality and respect for the environment.

We are working to reduce waste by phasing out single-use plastics, using returnable bottles and installing beer and soft drink taps in all our bars to minimise the use of unnecessary packaging.

We prioritise local and locally sourced (Km0) products in our kitchens, supporting the local economy and reducing the environmental impact associated with transport. Furthermore, we apply sustainable criteria to our purchasing, favouring products with less packaging and recycled or certified materials.

We also incorporate hygiene products and amenities with environmental certifications, use natural fertilisers in our gardens and avoid harmful pesticides, contributing to the protection of biodiversity and the natural environment.

Furthermore, we have automatic dosing systems to optimise the use of chemicals and we promote awareness among customers and staff through good environmental practices, reinforcing our commitment with certifications that guarantee the continuous improvement of our sustainable management.

At ADRIAN Hoteles, we work to reduce waste generation and move towards a circular economy model based on prevention, reuse, and recycling across all our operations.

We apply measures such as composting organic waste from kitchens and gardens, eliminating single-use plastics, and replacing them with more sustainable alternatives, as well as purchasing bulk products or items with less packaging.

We ensure proper waste management through selective sorting systems in all facilities and the differentiated handling of special waste via authorized waste managers.

We promote material reuse, the digitalization of processes to reduce paper consumption, and initiatives such as Buffet Waste 0 to minimize food waste.

In addition, we foster training and awareness among employees and guests, along with continuous monitoring of environmental indicators to consistently improve our waste management.

At ADRIAN Hoteles, we work to protect and preserve the natural environment around us, promoting actions aimed at safeguarding biodiversity and respecting local ecosystems.

We encourage the integration of native flora in our gardens and green areas, favoring species adapted to the local climate and contributing to landscape conservation and a more responsible use of natural resources.

We participate in initiatives for the protection of local species, such as the Cory’s shearwater, collaborating in awareness and conservation actions for this emblematic bird of the Canary Islands, as well as with local organizations dedicated to environmental protection.

We develop local reforestation activities that contribute to the recovery of natural spaces and the improvement of the surrounding environment.

We apply responsible outdoor lighting measures to minimize the impact on nocturnal wildlife and help preserve local ecosystems.

We promote environmental awareness by providing our guests with information about local biodiversity and species, encouraging greater understanding of the importance of conservation.

In addition, we support awareness and participation activities related to the natural environment, helping guests connect with the environmental heritage of the islands.

Our commitment to biodiversity is part of a sustainability strategy aimed at preserving our natural heritage for future generations.
